Well Well Well.....

Okay so ive been in italy for 6 months!!! yes thats wright 6 whole months!! and boy am i annoyed abut how many times i am asked "so how many kangaroos have you seen?" a non because ive never been to AUSTRALIA!! "But you guys do have koalas?"NO they live in AUSTRALIA!!"gosh! You must be cold living here especially since a part of you big country is really close-ish to the equator" OH MY GOD!!! I DO NOT LIVE IN AUSTRALIA!! the kiwi is also no stupid retarded bird. Lots of birds dont fly! Well maybe not LOTS but there are others its not just the KIWI!

Whle im saying these things i do love it here in Italy!! it is of corse the most amazing thing ive done in my life.... Lets not forget Im only 17!!( but not for long!!!!!!!!)

Im pleased to say that my italian is improvingbut it is still a challange and i think i may of let it over come me but know that ive realised im ready to fight!!! (lol im a egg!!) and move on with my experience to make it even better than it would of been in the first place!!

Im not going to deny about being homesick and at times have had to fight thoughts of home off because they upset me to much!! I think what made me so homesick is all the changes that have gone on back home in NZ!! Some off them really good and others im not really sure i know what to think!! But i think all of the changes will help my family and friends move on into the future!!

Nothing extremly interesting has happened in the past months well not really nothing but the things NZers think are really are kind so so... ever day life for me now but right now Im reading my diary what do i have to tell you! um.............

- Oh i baked a cake with funky biscuits and marshmellows really yum!!!

- I went to the carnival!! ts really just a parade of some of the awesomist coolest floats ever!!!!! Theyre huge and they do really kol stuff like split in half and so thing comes out the middle.... of the heads of statues move!!! check out my pictures on facebook!!

Yeah have a snoop on facebook and yeah... stay chilled

Firsts!!

Italy for me has been a lot of firsts

1: Time ive been on a train. Which i know use rather regularly.
2: Time using the subway I used it in Milan to go in to the centre city. ( And yes I did have to stand next to a crazy weird smelling old dude.
3: Time being the oldest in my class. Because Im in the year below lol. but there is another girl who is also almost 18.
4: Time doing designa geometrica.... geometric design... and yes it sucks it must be perfect. And i just happen to be further from perfect than pluto is from the sun.
5: Time at the discotec. Was coolish but hunny if you dont want to dance why the fuck are you on the DANCE FLOOR!! give me the evils! just watch yourself what if this fat bich falls on you ae? Thwn whats gonna happen... (just confirming yes i am a dick still!!!)
6: Time eating octopus and squid. Kinda a mind over matter thing. It doesnt taste bad i just cant seem to make myself eat it!!
7: Time going out to a bar and drinking an alcoholic drink. It was tiny and my family were all OMG alcohol shes only 17. Im like fuck! obviously havnt heard about NZs binge drinking problems.
8: (This is a big one) School on Satarday. What kinda crazy fucker desided that shit ae??? I wake up at 6 and im like yes this is what i love about Italy!!
9: Time getting lost (wait let me finish) getting lots and literally not knowing what to do and how to fix it. You know? At least in Chch i could catch a bus to like the city centre or just sit on the bus till i figure out where the fuck i am. But here i could get on a bus and if its in the wrong direction i would end up 45 minutes out of town.... SHIT.. buts all good i sorted my shit out lol...

Gay update number 3.... Love

Worst cheater in the world....

Okay.... im copying and pasting emails..... but i swear now to make regular updates.....

Email one:

Before now I had never travelled out of New Zealand. My trip to italy has not only did it envolve 28 hours of flights to the other side of the world. But also my first trip through a time warp. Italy is and amazing and beautiful counrty full to the brim with history and culture. Were ever you turn you find elderly women hanging out their sheets and towels from the third floor of there old stone building with its green shutters. Sometimes when I walk down the street with vans and vespas screaming past me horns blaring i can close my eyes and see the horse pulled carrages shuffling down the bumpy streets of Florence.
I live just out of Florence in a small comunitee surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. I travel into the centre of the city Monday to Saturday were I go to an artistic school were I am studying drawing.
The Italians are such wonderful and affectionate people. I have made many friends at school and my house family are absolutely wonderful. I am very greatful of you for giving me the chance to meet so many wonderful people and i have only been here for 2 months.
With AFS I have traveled to Ceasenatico a small port town on the east side of Italy It was very well organised and it was really good to talk with people who also understand the things and changes that are happening in my life. Afs Italy has taught me somethings that I cant wait to bring back to New Zealand and introduce to my chapter.Last week I travelled with my school to Venice with my school. We vistited the world art exibition it was amazing. We are now planning a trip to Milan.

WOW! It is now 2010! Last year was such a big year for me. With many big endings and new beginnings. Now is a time to reflect on the happenings of an important time for everyone and that being our childhood. At 17 i have lived in 3 decades and witnessed 2 millenims. I have been here for almost 5 months now and the time has seemed to fly by. They have brought about a lot of change in my life including the scenery, waking hours, buildings and ultimately the language. Its amazing the things you wish you had appresiated more you had them, when you dont have them. Italy has a beautiful countryside that looks similar to the canterbury plains but different kinds of greens. Its sometimes hard to apresiate them when you driving down the autostrada at 150km/h admist the grey tagged sound proofing walls really makes you appresiate the winding to laned roads admist the fields and the trees in NZ. But its easy to forget the grey when you enter the wonderful old and grand cities or the small villages with beautiful little churchs in there centre. During the christmas vacation I travlled with my host family to the north of Italy. I visited Milan, Brecia, Begamo and many small villages where many extended members of the family live. I also vivited the families summer house ( which during the winter is extremly cold with -7 outside. But its not all travel. I go to school everyday because I love it. But Im not going to lie getting up at 6am in the morning to go to school on a satarday is not an extremely happy time for me. In the afternoons i go to my Itialian corse with is alot of fun. Thwe teechers are really good and I feel my Italian getting better everyday Although I know my Italian is getting better I feel it is happining to slow especially when I know that other people on the afs programmes are picking it up really fast but I try not to let that get me down and always remember the great chance I have been giving and I know that I will eventually reach there level and the harder I work the faster it will come. To reach the top I need to build myself a stedy set of stairs. Speaking of stairs. In italy there are alway stairs you must climb. To get into a building and up to the level you want. At my school all my classes are on the forth floor so i generaly have to climb them at least twice because at interval i generally move down to the courtyard. But my school building is old and mismatched but increadibly welcoming and the people are just as nice someone is always willing to lend a helping hand or share a smile.

Yeah yeah i know there not good... but well... im sorry...

Ciao ciao

Sorry Sorry Sorry... I promise that from now on I will attempt to update you mare regularly.

I have now been in Italy for two whole months. Althought the days seem to be very long the time seems to have just flew by.

I have had my orientation camp with Afs and it was great lots of really kol people. It was great to speak with people who understood everything you wee thinking and feeling. It was also wonderful to hear another New Zealand accent. The camp was in Ceasenatico. There are pictures on my facebook.

Ive alsotravelled Venice with my school were we visited an art exhibition. It was amazing the worlds away from little old Christchurch. It as really funny to see a boat go past saying 5 San Marco just like a bus would.

I am really enjoying my time in Italy and slowly ( very very very slowly ) I am learning Italian.

Written during italian lesson...

Ciao My italian adventure is going really well... Or should i say awesome... Im sorry that none of my posts ever seem to be a literary sucess but im trying and hopefully as the year goes on they wll get better and better... I think if i go through a normal day i may be able to remember all the things i want to say...

Its really weird to go from being very independant to having almost everything done for me... In the moring i get a knock and a soft Shelby instead of the harsh ringing of the alarm clock... My host parents make my breakfast before i even get down stairs.. ( the toast here is nothing like in New Zealand its really hard and crusty but if we look at it in perspective is double hard and crusty since Italian bread is hard and crusty anyway...) Mauro drives me to the bus stop and the bus comes at 6:40 and goes all the way into florence it takes about 30minutes and i then catch another bus into the heart of florence so all in all it takes me about an hour to get to school...

Schol is really kol.. It of corse has ts good and bad bits lol... like anything.. I go to schol from monday to satarday and go from 8 until 2.. We have classes ranging between 1 and 3 hours.. This is different.... Its really good for painting but 2 hours of maths and italian is seriously not kol.. ( both of these teachers are really strict )

If you think of all the clothes that are really gay and wouldnt be caught dead in... Yeah well they are all in fashion here lol.. At the bus stop i saw this guy and he was wering sunshine yellow pants and a purple pocka dotted over sized jersey... not pretty lol...

The teachers here just sit at the front of the class and talk for hours on end lol... In maths the teacher calls out your name and you have to go up and answer a question by yourself on the board... not kol lol.. i hpe i never have to lol..

In the afternon it takes me slightly longer to get home lol... about another half an hour because i dont finish early enough for the first bus... Mirella picks me up from the bus statuion and we come home and have lunch.. Im always really hungary because its almost 4 by the time we get home... and ive had breakfast at 6 and some biscuits at 10...

All the mosquitos are starting to die now... YES!!! Die suckers die...

When it rains in florence it really rains lol... Like when you watch in movies and there in the jungle were theyre like drenched in seconds by these big fat and heavy raindrops thats how it rains here...

Something i find hard yto get used to is all the teenage smoking.... They like go out to the courtyard and have a fag lol.... Its really weird lol.... You would have to hide in NZ and here theyre like lighting up on there way out the door...

Yesterday i went to the movies with my italian family and some of there friends and feel asleep like 10 minutes in... If im not careful theyll stop taking me places lol... cause there scared im gonna go to sleep lol... I almost did at a concert they took me to lol... and in my italian classes lol...

Ive made a bargin with my friend sofy that i teach her english she teaches me italian lol...

We are doing poetry in english.. Like seriously can i not get away from this subject.. anyway i have to go now... ciao for now...

Finally In Italia

Okay yes... Well... Im sorry ity has taken me so long to update... But well i forgot my password... And well i was having some trouble trying to find it out because well everythings in italian lol.... S ive been in Italy under a week and it feels like ive been gone for ages... Lol... Technically i left NZ a week ago... Oh my the amount of things that have happened in that time lol... THis first blog will be really bad lol because I have so much to say and im not sure how to condesnse it down or put it into something that resembles consious thought lol... As some of you will already know i am a seriously bad speller so writing on a funny keyboard is definitly not working lol.. Okay i think im gnna try just making statements and then following them up with shit lol.. Okay... Here wee go...

Italians do whatevery they want! This seems like suchj a funny statement but it is seriously true... They will drive where ever they want... They may have a line that could fit four cars nicely next to each other... But no the italians just drive were ever they want lol... and it doesnt even have to be in this lane... They also drive at whatever spead they want lol... And the smell of brakes is almost always in the air... So as you can tell driving is different in a car but wait you then have to add vespers, cyclists, busesw and people... No these people can be just walking on the road or they could also be selling newspapers etc.... I know for sure that my mum could never drive in Italy lol...

Okay ill go back a little bit to actually coming here lol... Well now.. I suffer from motion sickness so i was aproslutely dreading the 28 hour flight here... Now during the first half of this flight i was lead to falsely beleive that things were actually going to be okay... Well thats how it seemed on singapore airlines... Well then i got on to a luftansa plane and boydid things go down hill... That my friends is a increadibly awful plane... I am dreading the flight home... wellthe first half anyway...

Everybody that is part of AFS is like seriously kol... The people travelling from NZ, the volunteers, the families and just like everyone lol... Thos os such an amazing experience and i wish that more people can be involved..

My host family are really great... I dont think i copuld ask for a better set of peope if i was to outline what i wanted lol... My sisters speak english from there 2 years at an american school in Africa... Yes africa lol... and my parents speak broken english but well its better english than i can speak italian lol...

I had my first day at school today and that was different... I will depending on the day need to catch 2 or 3 buses... I will go to school from 8 till 2 with a 15 minute break... and unlike a lot of the schools in itlay i will actualy have to change classrooms... This brings me to timetables good god are they different... But they dont seem to make any sence or seem at all benificial... Which seriously sucks because i hate not knowing... Which is going to make this experience very very hard for me lol...

But i am enjoying it so very much and I am trying not to miss anything out but i think from now on my blogs wil be easyer to read because i wont have to condence so much... Not that i dont love to babble lol... Which of corse i do... Like you didnt know that lol...

LOVE YOU HEAPS
